Concentrations
Students may select to concentrate their studies in Long Term Care Management or Medical Practice Management.
Long Term Care Management Concentration
The Long Term Care Management (LTC) concentration is designed to prepare individuals for a variety of positions in the field of long term care. It encompasses content necessary for licensure examinations of both the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long-Term Care Administrators and the North Carolina Board of Nursing Home Examiners.
Students complete the specified required Core Courses (48 semester hours) for the Healthcare Management Degree. In addition, they must also successfully complete the following:
- HA 407 Long Term Care Management
- HA 506 Clinical Aspects of Aging
- HA 508 Contemporary Issues in Long Term Care
- Two electives related to long term care, healthcare disabilities or aging.
- Five electives of choice
Medical Practice Management Concentration
The Medical Practice Management (MPM) concentration is designed to prepare individuals for a variety of administrative positions in the field of medical group practice management. It incorporates competency areas necessary for certification by the American college of Medical Practice Executives.
Students complete the specified required Core Courses (48 semester hours) for the Healthcare Management Degree. In addition, they must also successfully complete the following:
- HA 409 Healthcare Information Management
- HA 412 Healthcare Human Resource Management
- HA 413 Risk Management and Insurance
- HA 507 Healthcare Quality Management
- HA 509 Medical Practice Operations Management
- Five electives of choice
